The Ubiquiti UniFi Access Reader G2 is a compact and versatile second-generation access control reader that integrates seamlessly with the UniFi Access platform. Designed for both indoor and outdoor installation, this reader supports multiple unlock methods including NFC cards, keyfobs, and mobile credentials via the UniFi Identity app, offering flexible authentication options for secure entry.

Equipped with an additional handwave request-to-exit feature, it enhances user convenience by enabling touchless exit authentication. The device also features configurable entry and exit greeting messages that improve interaction at access points.

Built to withstand harsh environments, the reader has an IP55 weather resistance rating and operates reliably between -30°C and 45°C. It is powered and connected via Power over Ethernet (PoE) through a single RJ45 port, allowing for centralized control and simple installation.

Hardware highlights include an integrated 0.7W speaker, vibrant RGBW status LEDs, a proximity/ToF sensor for enhanced detection, and a factory-reset button. The NFC read range is optimized to less than 30mm and supports major NFC card technologies such as ISO/IEC 14443A/B, 15693, 18092 (NFC), MIFARE Classic, DESFire, and various NFC Forum tags.

The reader is ESD and EMP protected and certified to meet standards including CE, FCC, IC, UL 294, and CAN/ULC-60839-11-1, ensuring both security and reliability.
