The Teltonika SWM281 is a high-performance, L2 managed Ethernet switch enhanced with advanced L3 functionality, designed for complex and demanding networking environments. Featuring 24 gigabit RJ45 Ethernet ports and 4 dedicated SFP fiber ports, the SWM281 supports high port density and fiber optic connections for extended network reach.
This switch is engineered with industrial-grade protocols including PROFINET (optional Class B conformance), MRP, and EtherNet/IP, making it ideal for mixed industrial and enterprise setups. Advanced network management and security protocols such as 802.1Q VLAN segmentation, 802.1p Quality of Service (QoS), 802.1x port-based authentication, SNMP v2/v3, and dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF v2, RIP v1/v2, EIGRP) ensure robust, flexible, and secure network operations.
Cloud-enabled with a 2-year Remote Management System (RMS) license included, the SWM281 allows centralized device management via RMS, alongside Web UI and Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) updates. It operates on Teltonika's TSWOS, an OpenWrt-based operating system, delivering reliability and ease of firmware management.
Performance Highlights: With a non-blocking bandwidth of 56 Gbps and a forwarding rate of 83.33 million packets per second (Mpps), it efficiently handles heavy network traffic. The switch supports jumbo frames of up to 10,000 bytes, a large 8K MAC address table, and buffers packets up to 512 KB, enhancing throughput and minimizing latency.
Physically, the unit is housed in a durable anodized aluminum enclosure, suitable for rack mounting (rack mounting kit included). It measures 483 x 44 x 234 mm, weighs 1.85 kg, and operates reliably between 0 °C to 50 °C with 10–90% non-condensing humidity. Energy efficient, it consumes from 5.5 W idle to a maximum of 20 W, powered by IEC C14 mains (100–240 VAC).
This versatile switch meets multiple regulatory standards including CE, UKCA, CB, RCM, FCC, and IC certifications, making it a dependable choice for professional and industrial network deployments.
